2 Corinthians 5:17 – This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
What an unforgettable week! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that God had something special in store for our team. Every conversation, every task, and every moment of worship felt purposefully woven together. We came ready to serve—but God blew us away with how He showed up, both in us and through us.
Our service project focused on refreshing the children’s activity center at Hogar Bíblico in the beautiful mountains of Costa Rica and God truly guided every step. Our team worked hard to remove old materials, paint, and even built new basketball hoops for the kids to enjoy. Some of us were also able to help create a brand-new library space for the school—an unexpected need that God provided the perfect team for.

Each morning started with devotionals and breakfast as a team, and those times were overflowing with the Spirit. God spoke through every team member who shared, and even though no one coordinated their topics, the messages perfectly connected. The themes that emerged again and again were our identity in Christ and not allowing lies to lead our lives. Do we see ourselves and others in the way God sees us? Are we serving in a way that brings Him honor? We had deep, heartfelt conversations, challenging moments, and so many reminders of God’s faithfulness. By the end of the week, we were overwhelmed by the glory of the Lord—who stands above every personality, culture, race, and church. He alone is reliable and unchanging. His strength—not ours—carried us through this trip.
We also witnessed God moving in incredible ways among the children. One of the most powerful moments was watching several male teachers and counselors share the gospel with the kids. Their message centered on 2 Corinthians 5:17, and the altar call that followed was truly life-changing. Hearts were softened, lives were transformed, and God received all the glory.
Here’s a snapshot of what each day looked like:
- Day 1: Arrival, we flew into San Jose and met Mattias, who was our gracious host all week.
- Day 2: Our tourism day – we traveled to Tortuga Island and were able to enjoy the day taking in the culture before our week of work.
- Day 3: We had a full day of work and then dinner in the homes with the children.
- Day 4: Another full day of work and then we had a pizza party with all of the children at the Bible home.
- Day 5: Another full day of work and dinner in the homes.
- Day 6: This is the day most of the team will tell you was the most impactful. In between work, we were blessed to attend a devotional time with the staff of Roblealto. We were then invited to the school where the children were taught about their true identity in Christ.
- Day 7: A full day of work trying to finish up any projects we could and preparing for the next team to come when we left.
- Day 8: A long day of travel to get home to our people.
We’d love for you to get involved and join us on our next trip this summer – whether it’s through praying, giving, or going! You’ll have the chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus—serving, loving, and making a real impact. And every time we go, God not only works through us, but He blesses each of us personally in unexpected ways.
